Driver’s Licence Recognition Evening

The Consulate General of Nepal to Victoria, in association with VicRoads, hosted a Nepalese Driver’s Licence Recognition Evening for community members on Monday, 19 November 2018 at the Nepal Consulate Office.

The aim of the program was to provide Nepalese community members in Victoria with a better understanding of how to receive recognition for their Nepalese driver’s licences in Victoria. Further road safety and general safety matters were also presented by members of Victoria Police.

Chandra Yonzon Attends Book Launch

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon was honoured to attend the book release of ‘Khoji Thulung Dhumkhumi Rai’s Ancient’ Lyrical poems by the author, Jay Bahadur Shrestha, on Sunday 28 October 2018. The biography tells the story of the life of Harka Rai, his forefathers, childhood memories and time served in the Gurkhas army.

Addressing dignitaries and attendees at the release, Consul General Yonzon congratulated duo Mr Rai and Mr Shrestha and encouraged all to read the biography to learn more about the fascinating life of community member, Mr Rai. The event, held in Coburg, celebrated the experiences of Nepalese nationals and their shared memory. Chandra Yonzon Meets with VicRoads Representatives

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, and consulate staff met with VicRoads representatives at the Nepal consulate office on Monday, 15 October 2018. The meeting provided the opportunity for the consulate to discuss Victoria’s Nepalese community and the recognition of Nepalese driver’s licenses. The consulate and VicRoads discussed a plan to help facilitate the process of gaining recognition for Nepalese driver’s licences in Victoria.

Chandra Yonzon discusses Sister Cities in Bendigo

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon (चन्द्रयोन्जन), and consulate staff, met with City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Councillor Margaret O’Rourke and Councillor James Williams at Bendigo Municipal Offices on Wednesday, 8 August 2018.

The meeting was held to discuss the establishment of a Sister City relationship between the City of Greater Bendigo and a yet-to-be-named city in Nepal. Preliminary discussions were centred on Bendigo’s relationship with Nepal to-date, as well as expectations and possible opportunities in formalising the relationship.
