“Who said that Nepalese women are not brave? They that cannot raise their nation to great heights? Indeed, Nepalese women are making history, and making all Nepalese proud through their bravery and noble work.”

This is what Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, had to say when Seven Summits Women visited the Nepal Consulate Office on Monday, 5 March 2018.

Seven Summits Women Representatives, Saille Basnet and Maya Gurung, along with Aussie Action Abroad representatives and Director, Graeme Kent, and were welcomed at the Nepal Consulate Office by Consul General Yonzon with traditional khada before sharing their experiences with the Nepal Consulate Office team. A partnership between the Seven Summits Women team and Aussie Action Abroad will see a fundraising event on Saturday, 10 March 2018, which will feature two Nepalese Everest summiteers sharing their stories and work with earthquake affected communities.

It was a delight for the Nepal Consulate Office to take part in conversation of their contributions. Consul General and the entire Nepal Consulate Office team encourages all to attend and support the cause this weekend. The news comes following Consul General’s participation at International Women’s Day on Saturday, 3 March 2018.
