Nepal Tourism Promotion Night 2016

The Embassy of Nepal, Canberra, in association with the Consulate of Nepal in Victoria hosted Nepal Tourism Promotion Night-2016 on Friday, 15 July 2016 at the Big belly Asian café, in Melbourne. The event was organized with the objective of promoting Nepal as a travel destination for holidaymakers and adventure seekers in the travel and tourism sector in Australia.

Honorary Bruce Atkinson MLC, the President of the Legislative Council thanked the Consulate of Nepal to Victoria for inviting him as the guest of honour and said “Nepal is a country of natural beauty and should be promoted as a major tourist destination not only in Australia but also all over the world.”

During his welcome address, Chandra Yonzon, Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, emphasized on the role of travel agencies and media in promoting Nepal as a holiday destination in Australia. The guest of honour and various guest speakers at the event were also honoured in true Nepalese tradition by wrapping the Khada or the silk shawl by the Honorary Consul General.

During the program, Bhim Neupane and Kshipra Cariappa of Buddha Travels gave a presentation showcasing the diversity of Nepal highlighting tourist attractions and offering valuable tips to the travel agents.

Graeme Kent from Aussie Action Abroad who recently visited the Himalayan Kingdom said that Nepal is still beautiful despite the earthquake and its aftermath and is still the best place for tourists and holiday makers.

Mark Pinoli from Logged on Foundation expressed his views on the importance of Nepal and outlined their campaign to promote tourism in Nepal and their fund raising activities for Nepal.

Trevor Moyle from Smile High gave a short presentation on Nepal travel for travellers interested in getting involved in Growing Nepal projects – in conjunction with the partners like Smile High, Gandarbha Health Projects and Holy Himalaya Community Trust.

Doug Grant from the tennis trekker shared some of his personal photos taken in Nepal and expressed his immense love for the country.

Lana Harasymiv a friend of Nepal spoke about her recent trip to Nepal and expressed her fascination at the picturesque surroundings and warm hospitality she received during the trip.

The event also featured a raffle draw with exciting prizes of 2 return air tickets to Nepal, free accommodation packages among others.

The event concluded with vote of thanks from Consulate Advisor, Sudhir Shakya.
