Nepalese Consuls-General converge on Canberra

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, attended a consultation at Embassy of Nepal in Canberra on Tuesday, 29 August 2017. The consultation saw Australia’s Nepalese Consuls and Consuls-General converge in the nation’s capital for discussions with Ambassador of Nepal to Australia, Her Excellency Lucky Sherpa on consular mission operations and Australia-Nepal diplomatic relations and trade and investment.


Consul General Yonzon attended along with colleagues Hon. Consul General of Nepal to New South Wales, Deepak Khadka, Consul of Nepal to South Australia, Dipak Dhamala, Hon. Consul of Nepal to Western Australia, Fred Brown, and Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Queensland, Joseph Anthony Tuma. Consuls and Consuls-General presented their past and present work as well as future plans.


The consultation generated discussion on ways of promoting Nepal-Australia trade and investment, and relationships with Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) and Nepalese Education Consultants and international students. The consultation produced plans to host an annual economic seminar in cities around Australia, and prompted discussion surrounding the promotion of cultural exchanges in complimenting Australia’s rich multicultural society.


Consul General Yonzon thanked and commended his colleagues and Ambassador for their initiatives and fruitful discussion. He said it was great meeting in Canberra with the aim of strengthening their missions’ collaboration with the Embassy, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Her Excellency and the entire Embassy team for their hospitality in conducting the consultation.
