Consulate General’s Welcome Speech at Nepal Festival 2014

“I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, of elders past and present, on which this event is taking place. I would like to take permission to conduct this event in this land”

Mr Chin Tan – Chairman of Victorian Multicultural commission and a great friend of our community here in Victoria,

Mr Shesh Ghale ICC President of NRNA& all Office holders of NRNA ICC,

Sudhir Shakya-President of Nepalese Association of Victoria and his team,

Mahendra Oli- NRN NCC president and his team, all my colleagues from Consular corps, distinguished Guests from Nepal& other part of Australia,

Community Leaders, Media partners other distinguished guests and my dear friends from Nepalese and Australian communities, Ladies and Gentleman.

On behalf of Consulate of Nepal, Embassy of Nepal, NRNA and NAV and all Nepalese community as a whole, I extend my sincere gratitude to all of you for joining us in celebrating this year’s Nepal Festival 2014, which is a significant event for all the Nepalese living in Victoria and beyond. This event is jointly organised by NRNA Australia in association with the Consulate of Nepal to Victoria, Embassy of Nepal &Nepalese Association of Victoria.

We have been regularly organising this event since 2008, with an aim of promoting Nepal’s rich culture and heritage among the Australian communities. As this year’s theme –“Embrace culture. Enrich life,” suggests itself- the festival has truly brought us together to celebrate the rich and unique cultural heritage of Nepal here in Australia.

This festival also provides an opportunity to the Nepalese living in Victoria to feel proud of our unique culture and heritage by showcasing cultural shows, culinary delights and other fun filled activities.

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome our guests from Nepal & Interstate of Australia who have joined us in our endeavour by promoting Nepalese trade, culture and tourism among the Victorians and all Australians & other Multicultural communities in Melbourne.

Lastly, I welcome all of you and thank you for your participation today. My special thanks to all our hard working Volunteers, Management team, artists, media partners and everyone for your tireless effort to make this festival a success. I have witnessed your hard work which truly embodies the spirit of unity and brotherhood.

We are all Nepali, no matter where you come from – Be it Terai or Pahad, East or West, settled in any part of the world; we speak Nepali and follow Nepali Culture, we are one just one Nepali.

This is your festival and I hope you have enjoy all the activities throughout the day and will continue to enjoy rest of the evening.
