Consul General Attends MUNSS Program

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, attended Melbourne University Nepalese Students’ Society’s (MUNSS) Dashain and Tihar Shubhakamana 2074 at Gryphon Gallery, University of Melbourne on Sunday, 8 October 2017.


The program aimed at bringing together Nepalese community leaders and students in celebration, saw Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) and Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) community leaders and students celebrate together the exchange of Shubhakamana on the occasion of Bada Dashain, Tihar and Chhat. Consul General chairs business consultation

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, held a Business Consultation at Nepal Consulate Office boardroom on Friday, 15 September 2017. The consultation, which saw more than 40 Nepalese business operators, entrepreneurs and businesspeople in attendance, was aimed at forming a Nepal-Australia Trade and Commerce Team to oversee the establishment of a Nepalese Business Chamber in Melbourne. The consultation comes following a meeting held at Embassy of Nepal in Canberra on Tuesday, 29 August 2017, in which Consuls and Consuls-General meet with Ambassador of Nepal to Australia, HE Sherpa to discuss consular operations, Australia-Nepal relations and trade and investment. Consul General Attends Interactive Session in Coburg

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, had the pleasure of attending an interactive session starring poet, Prof. Tulsi Diwash, at Coburg Cafe & Restaurant last night on Sunday, 17 September 2017. Organised by B.P. Chintan Partishthan Australia in collaboration with Sahityik Jamghat, the occasion marked the 103rd birthday of writer and politician B.P. Koirala.


Consul General Yonzon and his wife, Laxmi Yonzon, along with all attendees were fortunate enough to hear a recital by Prof. Diwash, enthralled by each philosophical line. Prof. Diwash joined two other prominent literacy figures on the panel, Shirdher Poudel and Mohan Sitwla, who together paid tribute to B.P. Koirala’s literacy journey.

Consul General Holds International Student Project Consultation

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, attended an International Student Project Consultation held at Nepal Consulate Office board room in Melbourne on Wednesday, 13 September 2017. Consultation outcomes included Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) Australia and Nepalese Association of Victoria’s (NAV) plan to act as stakeholders of a holistic and collaborative Nepalese government representation in Australia. Consul General Attends SCC Presentation Night

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, attended as Chief Guest at Sagarmatha Cricket Club’s (SCC) first Presentation Night to celebrated SCC’s accomplishments over the past four years accompanied by wife, Laxmi Yonzon, on Sunday, 27 August 2017.


The program commenced with the national anthems of Nepal and Australia before a minute of silence for the victims of the recent floods in Nepal. SCC pledged to hand over $5 from each ticket sold on the night to NRNA’s disaster relief fund with a donation box at the venue with attendees encouraged to donate.

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon, and his wife, Mrs Laxmi Yonzon, attended Teej Mela 2017 in Craigieburn on Monday night, 21 August 2017. Mr Yonzon attended as Chief Guest, delivering Special Remarks highlighting the importance of Teej as a celebratory welcome of the monsoon season in Nepal, traditionally celebrated by women and girls with song, dance and prayer.
