Consul General attends Tamu Lhochhar 2017

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, and his wife, Laxmi Yonzon, attended Tamu Lhochhar at Estonian House on Saturday, 30 December 2017. The program, with over 300 in attendance, was organised by Tamu Samaj Victoria (TSV) and commenced with the worship of Lord Buddha. The event saw many interesting and enjoyable cultural performances by local artists and children.


In his address, Consul General Yonzon said that he is delighted to attend the event every year with his wife, Laxmi. Consul General Yonzon thanked the program’s organisers, other community leaders and officials for their hard work, dedication and creativeness of events such as Tamu Lhochhar 2017.

Consul General attends Melbourne Saptaha

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, attended Melbourne Saptaha, a religious program spanning seven days from Monday, 18 December to Sunday, 24 December, last month. The program, aimed at raising funds and awareness for the establishment of a Nepalese Community Centre in Melbourne, saw the coming together of Victoria’s Nepalese community as well as the state’s wider multicultural communities.


Consul General Yonzon, along with former Non-Resident Nepali Association President President, Shesh Ghale, and other esteemed community members were present for the opening of the program. In his address, Consul General Yonzon said that the community centre should be treated as one’s own garden, where all can come together and say, “It is ours.”

Nepal Idols perform at My Nepal Fest

Nepal Idol’s top three contestants, Buddha Lama, Nishan Bhattarai and Pratap Das, as well as fellow contestant, Pramila Rai, performed at My Nepal Fest: Nepal Food Fiesta 2017 at Batman Royale, Coburg, on Sunday, 3 December 2017. Nepal Idol 2017 host, Sushil Nepal, hosted the star-studded event organised by Smart Access Entertainment. Sunday’s performance and Nepalese food festival drew a fantastic crowd despite Melbourne rain.

Consul General chairs second business consultation

The consultation is the second in a series chaired by Consul General Yonzon seeking to establish a Nepal-Australia Chamber of Commerce in the state’s capital. Tuesday’s consultation saw discussions surrounding objectives, membership structure, legislative requirements, the creation of a tentative framework and the Nepal-Australia trade and investment team and Board of Directors.

Dashain Celebrations Unite Melbourne’s Nepalese

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, and his wife, Laxmi Yonzon, attended Dashain and Tihar Subhakaman Sanjh 2017 celebrations hosted by Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) in Brunswick, Melbourne, on Saturday, 7 October 2017. The program, which sought to bring together Melbourne’s diverse Nepalese community, saw more than 250 participants fill the venue to capacity.


Community leaders and members from over 18 Nepalese community organisations and students from as many institutes and universities came together to participate in the program. Consul General Attends MUNSS Program

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, attended Melbourne University Nepalese Students’ Society’s (MUNSS) Dashain and Tihar Shubhakamana 2074 at Gryphon Gallery, University of Melbourne on Sunday, 8 October 2017.
