Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Updates

Travel restrictions – effective immediately

The Australian Government has announced that as of 1 February 2020, all travellers arriving from any part of mainland China, regardless of nationality, will be subject to enhanced border control measures to ensure the health, safety and well-being of the Australian community.

Australia will deny entry to anyone who has left or transited mainland China from 1 February, with the exception of:

• Australian citizens
• permanent residents
• immediate family members of Australian citizens and permanent residents including spouses, minor dependents and legal guardians

Limited exemptions also exist for airline and maritime crew, where they have taken appropriate precautionary measures.

Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, along with the entire Nepal consulate office team in Melbourne, extends their welcome and looks forward to working closely with His Excellency and the embassy team, and towards further strengthening Australia-Nepal bilateral relations and our broader community in the near future.

Organised by Madeshi Community of Victoria, the celebration saw in attendance The Hon. Robin Scott, representing the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Member for Wills, Peter Khalil, Madheshi Community President, Dr Surendra Rauniyar, and Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon.

Bal Diwas, or “Children’s Day,” was celebrated by Victoria’s Nepalese community at Coburg Town Hall on Sunday, 15 September.

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon, who attended as Chief Guest, said that he is happy to see increased participation at Bal Diwas celebrations each year.

Consul General Yonzon thanked volunteers, performers, and Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) for organising the event. Bal Diwas celebrations, which this year included a fashion parade, national anthems and children’s talent shows, is held annually to raise awareness of the rights, care and education of children.
