Hon. Consul General Attends Interactive Session in Coburg

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon, had the pleasure of attending an interactive session starring poet, Prof. Tulsi Diwash, at Coburg Cafe & Restaurant last night on Sunday, 17 September 2017. Organised by B.P. Chintan Partishthan Australia in collaboration with Sahityik Jamghat, the occasion marked the 103rd birthday of writer and politician B.P. Koirala.

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon, attended an International Student Project Consultation held at Nepal Consulate Office in Melbourne on Wednesday, 13 September 2017. Consultation outcomes included NRNA Australia and NAV’s plan to act as stakeholders of a holistic and collaborative Nepalese government representation in Australia. Together, a united Embassy and consular representation will work with Nepalese community organisations, liaising with Nepalese Education Consultants and international students in realising shared goals of assisting international students, the Nepalese community in Nepal, as well as our Nepalese community here in Australia.

Hon. Consul General Attends NRNAA Victoria Community Consultation Forum

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon, participated in NRNAA Victoria’s Community Consultation Forum at the Nepal Consulate Office on Monday, 27 August 2017. Mr Yonzon made part of the forum panel, and along with four other reputed senior members of Victoria’s Nepalese community. Mr Yonzon took notes and addressed attendees with concrete feedback as to how NRNAA Victoria can work more closely with the community and more effectively in the future.

Topics of discussion at the forum included the running of the social welfare/student fund, international students, Nepalese language, culture and festivals, NRNA membership and election processes, and how NRNA can work more closely with Victoria’s Nepalese community, Nepalese sports and other organisations.

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon, along with his wife, Mrs Laxmi Yonzon, attended as Chief Guest at Sagarmatha Cricket Club’s (SCC) first Presentation Night to celebrated SCC’s accomplishments over the past four years on Sunday, 27 August 2017.

The program commenced with the national anthems of Nepal and Australia before a minute of silence for the victims of the recent floods in Nepal. SCC pledged to hand over $5 from each ticket sold on the night to NRNA’s disaster relief fund with a donation box at the venue with attendees encouraged to donate.

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon, and his wife, Mrs Laxmi Yonzon, attended Teej Mela 2017 in Craigieburn on Monday night, 21 August 2017. Mr Yonzon attended as Chief Guest, delivering Special Remarks highlighting the importance of Teej as a celebratory welcome of the monsoon season in Nepal, traditionally celebrated by women and girls with song, dance and prayer. Mr Yonzon expressed pleasure in seeing Teej today celebrated as a theme for gender equality, and his delight in seeing men and women dancing together in such joyous festivity and harmony.

The evening’s program saw the GCCM celebrate its first year’s achievements and successes, with Hon. Consul General Yonzon having the honour of speaking at the event. Mr Yonzon offered his best wishes to the club, congratulating them on their anniversary. Hon. Consul General Attends ‘Kabita Concert: Celebrating Depth’

Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr Chandra Yonzon, and his wife, Mrs Laxmi Yonzon, attended ‘Kabita Concert: Celebrating Depth’, a poetry recital by Nawaraj Parajuli, at Thornbury Theatre on Saturday afternoon, 5 August 2017. Mr Parajuli’s recital was enhanced by soft piano, flute and other traditional Nepalese instrumentals making for a captivating performance.
