COVID-19: Notices of Temporary Change in Consular Services (as measures towards prevention of COVID-19)

The Nepal Consulate Office of Victoria remains open amidst the ongoing health crisis, however taking into account the current situation on the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, we have taken certain measures to ensure safety of our valuable clients and guests. The changes are mostly applicable to our counter services and effective until further notice. Clients/guests are requested to abide by the following appeals:

  1. All visa applications are to be submitted to the Nepal Consulate Office by Postal Services (GPO BOX 5466, Melbourne, VIC 3001, Australia). Please include the following in the application:
    1. Registered and prepaid return envelope. 
    2. Visa Fee
      – Health Clearance Certificate with Swab Test.

FECON Meet-and-Greet in Melbourne

The office of the Nepalese Consulate General in Melbourne hosted a meet-and-greet with delegates from Free Education Consultancies of Nepal (FECON) and some of Melbourne’s leading education providers on Friday, 28 February 2020.

FECON President Yubraj Katwal, Vice-Presidents Dipak Silwal and Lab Raj Mainali, and General Secretary Bhupal Tamang were welcomed by Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Chandra Yonzon with traditional khada and gifts before presentations by institute representatives.

The international delegation is scheduled to travel to Australia from 15-30 February to research sustainable Nepalese student flow with Australian education providers and enhance relationship with education providers and promote Nepalese students.

International Students Rules Effective 29 October 2019 (Reminder)

New rules for international students, international licence holders driving in Victoria.

The new rule has been applied since 29 October 2019, and means that all international students driving on an international licence will have six months to get a Victorian licence.  

There are no changes to the licence requirements and assessments.

If a student does not convert their international licence to a Victorian licence within six months, they will be breaking Victorian road laws.

  • New students who arrive in Victoria after the 29 October 2019 will have six months from the day they arrive to get a Victorian licence.
  • For students already living in Victoria, regardless of when they arrived, they have six months from the 29 October 2019 to convert to a Victorian licence.

Urgent Notice about the Suspension of Visa-on-arrival

2 March 2020 – The Government of Nepal is monitoring the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19). Taking into account the global recommendations and measure of the WHO, the Government of Nepal has decided to temporarily suspend visa-on-arrival for the nationals of the following countries, effective from 10 March, 2020 to till the date of further notice:

  • People’s Republic of China, including Special Administrative Regions
  • Islamic Republic of Iran
  • Italy
  • Republic of Korea
  • Japan

However, those willing to visit Nepal can obtain visa beforehand from the Nepali Missions abroad. Applicants in these countries are required to submit a recently issued health certificate with the visa application.
